Scene: The cafe in the Bloomsbury bookshop cafe in Ashland where I have just finished reading the local paper.

A local chap comes up to my table and begins the conversation.

– Excuse me, have you finished with the paper? May I take it?

– Sure.

– (With a frown) Are you from Texas? Are you Texan?

– No, good heavens! I am Australian

– Oh my god! I am SO SORRY!!! Oh my god I have SO insulted you. I said you were Texan. Oh, my god, please, please accept my apologies and know you are so very welcome in Ashland!
